A world-renowned conductor from Estonia with a strong character and a clear mission.
Estonian conductor Neeme Järvi is the head of a musical dynasty that has revolutionized the musical life of Estonia and far beyond. Neeme is also one of the most recorded conductors—or musicians—in the world. His name appears on the covers of more than half a thousand audio recordings, in addition to hundreds of other releases on which he is one of many contributors.
“If you think small, you can’t make big music,” says Neeme Järvi.
Alongside his international career and his role as chief conductor of several major orchestras around the world, he also carries a mission as a cultural ambassador.
The film follows the internationally acclaimed and widely beloved Neeme Järvi over the past four years, documenting his work in Estonia as well as in Prague, Vienna, Glasgow, and the United States. Neeme’s character is revealed through his family members and friends, as well as through musicians who have performed with him in concert, including Nicola Benedetti, Catriona Morison, Thomas Hampson, Joshua Bell, and others.
